marshmallow sea

“a unique choreographic voice, creating work that is meditative, introspective, haunting, and... dream-like.”  - SeeDance

MARSHMALLOW SEA (2017-2018) examines water symbols, conservation, sustainability, and dream logic. The work begins where their last work, WATER STORIES, left off. It dives beyond linear stories and submits to a staggered, interrupted pace, and an overwhelming exposure of memories. Jonathan Snipes (of clipping.) performs a live sound score utilizing MaxMSP, field recordings, and a modular synth to offer a habitual sonic atmosphere.

Original costumes by Amabelle Aguiluz and set design by prolific recycling artist Clare Graham.

MARSHMALLOW SEA premiered a 40 minute version of the work in Seattle, WA at Velocity Dance Center and at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, NM. The full evening premiered at LAX Festival in Los Angeles for 3 sold-out runs.
